So we spent 158 days without clean drinking water due to Cryptosporidium contamination, and when it was lifted (less than 1 month ago), we got this glowing recommendation from the Health Service Executive (HSE)
Dr O’Donovan also said that water supplies are now safer than they have ever been. Screening treatments are in place to remove any harmful organisms from water supplies.
We awoke today to a new boil-water notice, this time only affecting 15,000 residents in the Knocknacarra area of Galway, instead of the 90,000 affected by the previous warning.
The two incidents are, as they say, unconnected. But, and I’m not rocket-scientist, if both Crypto and Ecoli are transmitted by faecal contamination of a water supply, wouldn’t it then stand to reason that our water has poo in it? Therefore a connection of sorts, one would think?
So, luckily, as with the previous incident, babypixie is still being breastfed and her water with lunch comes from an Evian bottle. I on the other hand have foolishly been trusting our water since the last notice was lifted, no more I tell you! And we’re back to boiling and cooling water for her baths, you know how much I hate that!
