Following on from my last post, did you know that when The Body Shop was bought by L’Oreal, not only did it join a huge animal testing corporation, it also became a member of the Nestle family?
Nestle owns 26% of L’Oreal.
Essentially, any money you spend in the Body Shop goes on to pay for animal tests for unnecessary new cosmetic ingredients and illegal marketing of baby formula in developing nations.
For irony’s sake, have a read of the following from the Body Shop’s own website
Throughout the ages, women’s bodies have been manipulated to fit the latest fad. We’ve been trussed up, pumped up, corseted and bandaged.
Waists have been pinched, skin bleached, ribs removed. The fat sucked out, the silicone injected in. Wouldn’t you rather be measured by your individuality, thinking and lust for life? Stand up for who you really are stand up for self esteem.
The crucial thing is for a cosmetics company not to test or commission animal tests and to do everything to try to stop ingredient suppliers animal testing in the future.
The Body Shop believes that as part of the global community, it is the responsibility of every individual to actively support human rights.
Whether it’s signing a petition, using our purchasing power to boycott a company, or lobbying governments, we all have the power to effect change. If enough individuals demand change – big business and governments will have to listen.
See, the Body Shop is practically begging you to boycott it.
So go on, do it for the animals L’Oreal tests on, do it for the babies Nestle kills, do it because they’re worth it!

That’s laughable really!
I didn’t know that Nestle owns 26% of Loreal. They really have a finger in every pie!!
Thank you again for that lovely present….I love the candies, especially
you’re welcome govegan, glad they arrived
Wow, that is really dripping with irony. I knew L’oreal had a bad reputation for animal testing, as if we needed another reason not to buy their stuff.
And to think I have been buying Body shop for years thinking I was doing a good thing , fair trade, against animal testing, etc! I have lots of reading to do and that includes your blog.
