In the Night Garden

14 January, 2008 by halfpintpixie

Well Littlepixie has a firm favourite, In the Night Garden, and has taught herself a sign to ask to see it.

Each episode starts with a child lying in bed, you see their mum or dad’s finger tracing a little circle on the child’s hand as they begin to tell the story.

upseydaisyLittlepixie, with a little help from her daddy, has worked out that if she holds out one hand and traces a little circle on it with her finger then everyone will talk about In the Night Garden and possibly even put it on for her to watch.

While visiting her Granny today, she asked over and over to watch it by using her little sign and I told her that when we got home she could watch an episode. Barely in the door and she runs into the living room signing to see it. She has special dances for each character and it’s really good fun to watch her watching it!

ninkynonkThing is, we all love the Night Garden, it’s very relaxing to watch and I want my own Ninky Nonk train NOW!!!!

It’s not just for crazy toddlers, it calms parents down too, as Monkeylogical (a Makka Pakka fan) has found…

Today I was lost in the rhythmic way Makka Pakka was precisely laying out his stones and polishing them with his sponge before delicately re-stacking them like some kind of zen gardener sitting in the womb like cave entrance to his home.

Doesn’t that sound so idyllic!

So in summary, Littlepixie has learned a new sign & it’s for a TV show. Oops :)

haha! When my youngest daughter was…well…I don’t know how old she was but it was little ….
she taught herself to sign to ask to watch a yoga dvd for kids that we had at the time.I was so proud! And then thought,”Hmm…I wonder if we should be doing this yoga stuff without the help of TV?” hehe.

I looks like a very cute show!

Its funny how they get their favourites. Lily just loves this book that we have – Uno’s Garden – and grabs it for us to read to her several times a day. Today, however, she ripped it quite badly and so I put it away and she cried. I felt terrible, but I don’t want her to completely destroy it…
