Ooh, look what I found in my local health food store today. Vegan chocolate buttons!
They taste just like the Cadbury’s ones (to the best of my memory of them anyway), creamy, not dark and very smooth, they have a the lovely chocolatey mouth-feel that is missing in many vegan milk chocolates. They even smell like milk chocolate!
They’re packed under the “Dairy Free – Deliciously Smooth” label by Humdinger Ltd. in the UK, but are actually made in Oz by Sweet William. You may remember Cristy mentioning Sweet William in a comment here last year, I hadn’t seen any of their products here, but now I have! I might see if I can track down any of their bars next, yum
They have the little Vegan Society sunflower on them too which is always good to see and from googling them they seem to be available in Asda & Tesco (possibly hiding in their free-from range) in the UK too. Well worth a taste!
On a funny aside, they don’t call themselves chocolate anywhere on the package, the front says “I love them on Mum’s chocolate cake” and the back refers to them having a “rich chocolate taste”. Above the ingredients they are described as “A blend of sugar, cocoa & soya”. I’m assuming that’s to avoid getting into a legal tangle. The packaging is a rich purple, not a million miles from away the colour used by a certain other button manufacturer!
For those of you interested in such information, the ingredients are:
Cane Sugar, Cocoa Butter (24%), Soya Flour (21%), Cocoa Mass (13%), Emulsifier (Soya Lecithin, E476), Natural Flavouring. May contain traces of Almond. Peanut-free.
As you may remember, I am on a quest to find delicious vegan “milk” chocolate, because I am just not a fan of the dark stuff. Mr. Halfpintpixie loves dark chocolate and thinks I’m nuts not liking it, he very thoughtfully found me some yummy rice milk chocolate from the U.S. for my birthday last month. So yummy that I only have one bar left now, naughty me! There are also the vegan smarties that, along with being vegan, score points for being Nestle-free too, giving us all a chance to enjoy smarties again, hurrah! And now we also have chocolate buttons, woohoo

I will have to check out our health food shop.I don’t remember seeing this product before but I’m also fond of “milky” chocolate so I will have to find it
Mmmm… this brand is so good! I’ve tried the rice crackle choc bar and even my omni hubby couldn’t tell the difference. I kept checking the packaging ‘just in case!’
Oh I must try and track down the rice crackle bar Sara, sounds good!
Sounds delish!! I’ll have to snoop around here for something similar!
Just found this at Sainsbury’s today, yum yum

Ooh the vegan milk chocolate buttons sounds lovely! I’m not a fan of dark chocolate either, but was about to go and buy some Green & Black’s (before finding out they’re not strictly dairy-free anymore). Hope I can find the Humdinger’s in my local Sainsbury’s! Thanks!
