Today was a lovely day, the sun has finally crept high enough in the sky that our back garden can see it again so for the first time in months I could dry my laundry on the line! The house now smells of line-dried clothes, I love that smell.
I spent a few minutes on a little project that I had been putting off for ages, making a peg bag. I use wooden pegs which I don’t like to leave out on the line as they get mouldy in the rain, so I’ve been chucking them in the bottom of the laundry basket, which renders them reasonably inaccessible when there is a pile of wet clothes on top of them.
Anyway, the peg bag. An idea borrowed from my mother-in-law.
Take a little cute top that your baby used to wear when they were so small, one that makes you smile whenever you see it (make sure you can comfortably fit your hand through the neck-hole).
Turn it inside out, sew the back and front together along the bottom seam, turn it back the right way around, hang it on a little hanger, fill with pegs, et voila…. a peg bag!
It’s cute, it’s easy to wash if it gets dirty, it’ll make you smile, and every time you hang out your rapidly growing child’s clothes, you’ll marvel at how little they once were. It would also would make a sweet (and cheap) present for grannies!

PERFECT! What an excellent idea and I have just the Nana in mind for such a gift … Australians always line dry their clothes (lucky!)
Brilliant! We neither have a garden nor a balcony so no sunshine for our clothes, but I’ll keep this in mind
I have a peg bag already (just plain old thing), but I loooovvvveee this idea! I can’t wait for mine to wear out so I can make one like this!
I made mine from a T-shirt,too…but I cut the sleeves off and sewed up the openings and just used a baby hanger to hang it on.
Made this in around two minutes, fantastic easy and practical what more could you ask for. many thanks
