Littlepixie rose bright eyed and bushy tailed at 03:00 this morning. Wonderful. In the sleepless hours that followed I had an idea.
Some of the comments left after yesterday’s “twittery” post mirrored thoughts I often have. I frequently imagine that every other mother is doing a better job than me, perhaps she bakes with her toddler, or does crafts, or rides ponies, or goes swimming, or goes water skiing, or goes into space. All better than what I do. Or perhaps she’s at work and her child is in a creche or montessori where they get to spend the whole day with kids their own age and have fun. Maybe Littlepixie gets bored of me, I certainly get bored of me.
So, here’s my idea. There are a lot of mammies (and daddies) out there in the blogosphere, and some of them visit here. Why don’t we all share a day? Just one post detailing a regular day in your household:
- Maybe you have a newborn baby, a toddler, one child or 7 children, perhaps you’re preparing your children for a new arrival.
- Perhaps you’re in the UK, USA, Australia, India, Cambodia or even Ireland.
- Maybe your child is nursing all day long, or all night long, or both! Bet you feel like you’re the only one!
- Maybe your children go to school, or perhaps you unschool or home school or play on the swings all day!
- Perhaps you’re at home with your children, maybe you work from home, or work outside the home.
- Does your child go to a creche, or a childminder or to work with you? Maybe you are a childminder and look after other children as well as your own.
The possibilities are endless, the days as varied as the weather! And I think it would be fantastic for us all to see how other mammies & daddies spend a regular day. We might even get some ideas!
So, if this sounds like fun, then here’s the details:
I will host the Carnival HQ here on Monday 25th August. On that day, you simply post your story on your blog with a link back to Carnival HQ and leave a comment at Carnival HQ with your story’s address. As the day goes on I will update Carnival HQ to link to all your stories and hopefully we’ll all have a lot of fun reading them.
Your post doesn’t have to be “09:00 I did this” style, it can be a story or a poem(!), if you have an old post that you’d like to share then leave the link to that. Everything will be appreciated
So, let’s make our online village work for us and share our tales of our regular everyday lives, the stuff that’s usually too boring to blog about, your story might make someone’s day!
Here’s a button if you wish to spread the idea… invite as many people as you like, the more the merrier!
Here’s the code for the button:

I recommend to any parents with kids that like vehicles to get their kids to drive said vehicles over their back whilst you lie on the floor. That is currently the Imp and my favourite activity – he thinks it’s funny, and I get a massage! He actually requests to do it now – RESULT!
Great idea.I’ll definitely join
Excellent idea! I might even think about starting a blog and making this entry the kick off (probably won’t draw back many readers, but perhaps some blogs can be more for the writers more than the readers.
I’m in! I love this idea.
I’m in. Unfortunately (?) Monday is Lily’s first morning at childcare so that will be interesting…
