I want to say a big “Thank You” to our good friend M. She is wonderful and she reads this blog, so I’ll say “Thank You” here but also in real life, once LP wakes up and I can move (she’s asleep on top of me now).
M is wonderful because she phoned Mr. HPP a week or so ago to say that she had found children’s winter jackets that had no fur on the collar! One of these jackets is now sitting happily on the sofa near me, I just saw it and it reminded me to thank M for keeping an eye out for us!
You see, I have a huge issue with fur, and fake fur too.
I think fake fur glamourises the whole fur industry, it makes fur-wearing socially acceptable, it makes it easier for retailers to start sneaking fur back into their stores again and worst of all it may not even be fake!
As to why you can’t find a child’s jacket without fake fur? Who knows! I just don’t get it, fake fur is horrible, the fibres make you sneeze, it looks awful, children are not Artic explorers, they don’t need half a polar bear on their coat hood, and I think you all know where I stand on the “children dressed as hookers” look that is so popular these days (fur trim seems to go nicely with this look!), argh.
Anyway, back to the original point, a big thank you M, LP loves her new coat and so do I

I completely agree! It looks ridiculous! When I told my daughter that fake fur may, in some cases, be real fur… she went crazy! And why IS is that you can’t find a decent thing without it??? Grrrrr… so frustrating.
ooops!have never looked at it this way and just bought D. a coat with a fake-fur today.I couldn’t find a prettier one. It’s red with lovely appliques.hmm, let’s see, maybe I should return it.where did you buy yours from?
I completely agree with you - on both subjects: fur and kids dressed as hookers (and little pimps)!
It’s so hard to find a fur or fake fur free coat. Almost everything seems to have a trim on the hood or collar nowadays!
I’ve always felt a little uneasy around “fake fur”. While obviously a million times better than the pelts of real animals, I don’t even want the “look” of it as it kind of promotes the idea of fur as fashionable.
I once had a fake fur jacket (when I was about 16). It made me look like a polar bear and was the cause of much social embarrassment when it shed all over the back seat of my friend’s dad’s car.
@ Oh sorry Isil, I feel bad now for making you feel bad! I’m no help either, I got it in Dunnes Stores, don’t know if they’re in the UK. It’s a boy’s jacket, navy & grey, but I’ll put a pair of pink trousers on LP when she wears it
Oh,no,don’t feel bad.We learn from each other, don’t we? As you wrote, most of them have fur on their hoods.Anyway I’ll check the stores again today, just in case I missed something.
