NaBloPoMo 2008 – Day 27
Week 3: I took a little break from felt food at the weekend as I was finishing a (quite late) birthday gift for a certain lovely little boy.
When I returned to my felt food crafting, my brain fell out & I had no ideas on what to make next so I drafted in Mr. HPP to help brainstorm some ideas. He requested tomatoes on the vine, they took a fair bit of work, but I think they look quite good and they are removable thanks to some handy velcro
Then a yummy Christmas pudding was added to the basket, along with a kiwi cut in half, one whole mushroom, 2 broccoli florets and some tofu cubes. I am quite proud of the broccoli and tomatoes as they took a lot of my brain power to design! The mushroom was from a pattern but it is very large, so I will scale down the next few. So, not too much new stuff this week, but there are still a few weeks left and the basket is slowly but surely filling up!

Next week will be peppers, courgettes, squashes, pitta pockets and some more of the above, it’s the start of December soon, so I think some bulky items will be needed to help fill the basket quicker! LP loves peppers so I am keen to make some for her, but I’ve been putting off making them as I made a disastrous one at the start but I will try again and hopefully this time I will get it right.
Here’s the link to that blanket stitch demo on YouTube again, I am loving the blanket stitch, it’s so hot right now in HPP felt food land. If anything wanders in to my field of vision it is blanket stitched before it knows what’s happening!
Might I just say a big “oh my goodness” about the price of pinking shears. I know they are a lifetime piece of equipment, but wow they are pricey! Anyhoo, ravioli is now beautiful and crinkledy, and the shears were very instrumental in making the tomato leaves, yay!
If you are interested in making felt food, I have cobbled together a huge amount of links to pictures, patterns and tutorials here. And if you have any questions about any of my random creations feel free to ask! Have fun
