Grumble

9 August, 2009 by halfpintpixie

Well, we made the series last as long as long as we could, but this evening we watched the final Sarah Connor Chronicles episode, boo hoo, it hasn’t been renewed for a new season :(

No more Battlestar, no Terminator, oh dear, what are we going to watch this year? Caprica isn’t starting until next year and I have my doubts about its watchability. I am thinking of rewatching Deep Space Nine again right from the start, but I’d like something new, I’ve seen DS9 a little too often.

Any suggestions? Me needs a good tv show, something with cyborgs preferably.

Dollhouse started out pretty blah, but is showing good promise going into Season 2…

The last few years has seen the end of too many quality TV shows and we have also been talking about revisiting DS9.I agree with Jen, though, that Dollhouse is worth watching; it certainly picked up steam toward the end and its unevenness reminds me of TSCC. And, while the first season left me unimpressed, the new Torchwood: Children of the Earth from BBC is excellent, edge of your seat sci-fi. Highly recommended.

I kept falling asleep watching Dollhouse but have heard that it gets better. James assured me!

Have you seen the Caprica intro movie? Interesting but like you I’m not sure if it will work as a series.

Check out Better Off Ted. It’s hilarious.

Hmmmmm…. Dollhouse – Mr.HPP has been watching it, but he hasn’t been too impressed, but having said that I don’t think he’s very far in yet. And Helo is in it…hmmmmm… ;-)

Torchwood – I started watching that back in 2006, and thought it was awful. Now I was 41 weeks pregnant at the time so perhaps not the best time for it, maybe I should give it another go, Mr. HPP reassures me that James Marsters makes an appearance :) Actually, there’s another old tv show… I miss Buffy, the comics made after it are worth reading!

Caprica – yup, we’ve seen the intro, it might work, but I’m not sure yet, but I will watch it and give it a good chance to grow on me.

Better off Ted – I am off to look that up now :)

And I suppose Lost is back next month, isn’t it? Why do I keep watching that series? It keeps sucking me back in every season.

Oooh I LOVE LOST, can’t wait for the new series. I’m presuming you’ve watched Farscape!?!?

Grand Designs? It’s the only show that I watch at the moment (unless you count Playschool). No cyborgs, but very watchable…

Can’t make any suggestions, but we’re looking forward to the Dr Who specials… I’ll let you know if the offspring have any ideas!

    Pushing Daisies?
United States of Tara – do you ge that over there?

  10. on 12 August, 2009 at 16:29 Erika

Ah Buffy. Love it. Love Spike and keep meaning to watch the Torchwood episodes with James marsters.

Have you been watching Chuck? It is a favourite here and about the only thing we look forward to now that BSG is gone (*sniff*). Though I will be sucked back into Lost now when it is back (totally forgot that it will be back next month). I need to find out about Jacob!

D is loving True Blood. I can’t stay awake during anything past 7pm so I have to take his word for it. C

Fringe and True Blood are both worth watching. Fringe takes a few episodes to warm up but is excellent in the second half of the season and ends really brilliantly. Can’t wait for the second season.

Dollhouse is pretty iffy at times, but is saved by a great premise and some interesting twists and turns. We’ll see how it pans out in the second season.

Dexter is the best thing on TV. It’s odd, but you like the main character despite yourself. Not many serial killers you can say that about! If you want something slightly inane, but none-the-less well written at times How I Met Your Mother is worth a watch.
