Oct 1st marks the start of National Breastfeeding Week 2008 here in Ireland.
It is also the launch date for a brand new mum-run breastfeeding support site called TheBreastWay.ie. This site has been set up by a breastfeeding mum & doctor who was appalled by the lack of breastfeeding support she received with her two babies.
TheBreastWay [...]

I got a reply from the FSAI (Food Safety Authority of Ireland) today to my recent Cow & Gate complaint. OMG, I am fit to burst here, I just shelled out a lot of cash to see a consultant to get a little patch of sun damage removed from my head. It’s apparently not urgent.
So I’m sitting there and he’s reading my file, I had written that I’m breastfeeding and…

I’m sure most of you folks in the UK & Ireland have seen Cow & Gate’s latest tv advertisement with the laughing babies. It’s on YouTube if you haven’t (is everything in the world on YouTube now one wonders?). It’s been around for a few weeks now, but we don’t have broadcast tv so I [...]

It’s World Breastfeeding Week from the 1st-7th August, and the theme this year is “Mother Support: Going for the Gold“. From the WBW site:
Breastfeeding results from a reproductive health continuum from the mother to the child with no beginning or end, from generation to generation.
When a practice is disrupted, it must be restored. However, restoration [...]

I’ve been following a thread on MDC where people have been adding links to their favourite breastfeeding images, be they photos, paintings, sketches, statues, advertisements, public awareness campaigns or jewellery.
But as with all threads on such busy forums, this one will eventually start to slip into the archives, so I thought I would take [...]

The human milk bank in Fermanagh urgently needs more donors, especially from the Republic of Ireland. You may recall that my first post was about our milk bank.
Well, yesterday Tanya Cassidy left a comment on that post sharing her experience of receiving donor milk for her second premature son after sadly losing her first son [...]

Isn’t this poster gorgeous? Adorable chubby toddler ankles!
It’s one of a series of posters that the Australian Breastfeeding Association have recently unveiled. The series aims to highlight the environmental benefits of breastfeeding. Wouldn’t they be beautiful to see in the doctor’s office rather than the usual medical posters!
Tanya wrote a wonderful post last year about [...]

Stone Soup is tackling the subject always dear to our hearts… Nursing in Public. This one is so funny, it’s exactly what you’d love to do if anyone complained to you!
You can see all the installments of the comic here.
Speaking of “Stone Soup”, do you remember the original story, it’s a great little tale. Here’s [...]
